For top-selling agent Jamie Morrison and his associate, Michelle Roache, the timing was right.

“An opportunity came along with a new challenge and we took it,” Jamie says. “In business, as in life, change is constant. You need to engage with it and say to yourself, how can I make this work?”

“I’ve got a 13-year-old son, and his world has changed more in those 13 years than it has done in the whole of my 44 years.  How can I teach my son to be adaptable to change without embracing it myself.”

“We believe the company we have chosen is at the forefront of emerging technologies with intuitive communication systems, that maximises results for our clients when aligned with social media and internet campaigns.  The Damerell group are well ahead in understanding how to support their talented sales team beyond the face to face relationship we have with our clients.“

Jamie began his career with Anne Duncan Real Estate back in 2008, in the depths of the GFC. “It was tough,” he admits. “I remember being told, ‘If you can sell it now, you can sell it any time… so just get on with it’. So I did, all guns blazing.”

“Anne is a legend and a household name here in Mt Albert, and I’d like to acknowledge everything I’ve learnt from her. I’m incredibly grateful for that,” he says.

Over the years, however, Jamie’s focus started to broaden. He began to think about the bigger picture, about where the industry was heading and how his role was changing, too. Jamie says the Ray White Damerell Group is a stand out for him, their business structures and emerging culture will ensure future growth and success.

“Their philosophy is aligned with our core values – we work damn hard, we like to have fun, and we are very passionate about what we do. We also have a strong sense of community, and are looking to invest our time and resources as Mt Albert continues to grow.”

Jamie’s words resonate with Gower Buchanan, one of the two directors at Ray White Damerell Group. “I’ve been watching Jamie’s career with admiration for a number of years; how he’s gone about servicing his clients and his ethos around excellent customer service. I definitely see Jamie as a future leader with Ray White Mt Albert and within Ray White Damerell Group as a whole.”

Buchanan is also impressed with the people Jamie surrounds himself with – in particular, his associate, Michelle Roache, who has also made the transition over to Ray White Damerell Group.

“Michelle is a fantastic professional in her own right,” says Buchanan. “A lot of that has to do with her work energy and her ambition.” Jamie considers his relationship with Michelle a partnership.

“We have good energy and we work well together,” he says. “We know we’ve got what it takes to engage with people.”

Jamie and Michelle say they operate their business on the premise on empowering their clients to make informed decisions. “We understand that our clients don’t sell houses for a living, but given the right information and confidence, through us sharing our knowledge and experience, they can be fully in charge and fully engaged in the sales process.”

For Ray White Mt Albert, the timing is absolutely right to bring this dynamic partnership on board, says Buchanan. “We know the move is going to be good for Jamie and Michelle’s career, good for their clients, and it’s also going to be good for our business.

“We are starting off 2018 with one of the best sales teams in the area joining us, it's a great win for us and our growing presence in the Western City Fringe.”

Mount Albert Grammar (MAGS)

Mount Albert Grammar (MAGS)

“I don’t think you choose an area, I think an area chooses you. You roll with the place that decides to love you, and you end up loving it. For a long time Mt Albert has been one of Auckland’s best-kept secrets, standing on its own as a city-fringe suburb and out-performing many of its more illustrious neighbours. And there is still a lot of growth potential in the area. It has a strong mixture of housing stock, including beautiful, villa-lined streets. If you look at some of the older, established streets in Grey Lynn and Ponsonby, that’s the way Mt Albert will be in years to come."

“Schools are also an important factor in any suburb, and we have a great example in Mount Albert Grammar (MAGS). Through strong leadership and a genuine investment from the community, MAGS has become one of Auckland’s top secondary schools.”

"It’s a suburb that’s got it all. It’s well serviced for transport – minutes to the city and the airport and out west – and it also has heaps of parks and public facilities. And the re-development of the village is nearly finished, too."
